Address This Before Something Bad Happens

Your agents’ safety is more important than any transaction.

You can share with your agents the recording of Vulnerable to Vigilant: Practical Safety Strategies for Real Estate Professionals. Here are some steps to consider to keep your agents safe.

Make safety part of your agents’ routine

You can require your agents to add safety measures to their showing preparations: verifying the client, sharing schedules with trusted contacts, and knowing how to reach emergency responders, among other measures.

Promote situational awareness

Paying attention in the moment is not enough. Emphasize to your agents that they need to arrive early and stay aware of their surroundings, including remaining near exits and letting the client lead while moving through the property.

Support your agents trusting their gut

Listening to that uneasy feeling could save your agent’s life. You can do your part by reassuring your agents that appointments can always be rescheduled and excuses will be accepted when safety is the concern. If they feel unsafe, they should leave quickly.

Recognize the power of phones

Encourage your agents to keep their phones charged. Safety technologies can help track your agents even if they do not respond. Apps can automatically reach out for help.

Reinforce that layers of safety can make the difference

No single layer is enough—habits, tools, and technology together are what bring your agents home safe, says webinar presenter and Tether RE Co-Founder Vanessa Martin.
